The Residence Permit application preview service is available today from 9:00-11:30 and 14:00-17:00 by 刘老师 in Office 1416 on workdays. Any student who needs to apply for a residence permit urgently can bring the following files for preview:

9. Digital Health Check Report saved as an independent PDF file on the cellphone

10. NUFE Certificate

Once all the files are checked, 刘老师 will issue the NUFE Certificate, which is crucial for the residence permit application. Please make sure you have ALL THE FILES ON HAND to save the time of other students in the line.

TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION REGISTRATION

A new international student has to finish the Temporary Accommodation Registration within 24 hours after arrival. Under relevant Chinese laws, international students must complete this registration within 24 hours as soon as they change their living place. You can finish this registration quite quickly via WeChat on the official account of the Nanjing Police Department. See Registration Guide:  临时住宿登记教程 Accommodation Reg. Tutorial.pdf. If you live in a hotel, hotel receptionists will finish this registration for you when checking in. Otherwise, you have to complete the registration on your own.

HEALTH CHECK

New international students who are going to study over three months at NUFE are required to take a health check at Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center (39 Chuangzhi Rd, Jianye District, Nanjing). Those who have done health checks in their home countries should bring the related reports to Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center for verification. Any students whose original health check reports do not meet the requirements must re-take the health check. Students are personally liable for health check expenses. Any students whose health check results do not meet the minimum required health standard are obligated to leave China within 30 days of arrival and bear all the costs involved. The Health Check Report is the prerequisite for the Residence Permit, so please finish the health check as soon as possible. After completing the health check, paying tuition, and finishing the residence permit procedure, international students can embark on their proposed program of study.

RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION

The Residence Permit is a long-time stay visa for most international students in China, which has no border entry & exit limits. Most international students with X1 visas must convert them into Residence Permits in time because by relevant visa law the X1 visa is only valid for 30 days after the visa bearer enters China. Overstaying your visa will lead to severe punishments by the immigration authority. For instance, your entry seal was stamped on Sept.2, 2023, so the last day of your X1 Visa is Oct.2, 2023.

Within 30 days of entering China, new international students must pass the health check, pay tuition and accommodation fee, then take documents issued by the College of International Education to the Immigration Department of Nanjing Police Department to apply for Residence Permits. 

Enrolled students must come to the College of International Education at least 30 days before the Residence Permit expires and take the required documents to the Immigration Department of Nanjing Police Department to extend the current residence permit. 

Any student whose Residence Permit (or visa) expires in China will be fined or punished according to the visa law of China by the immigration authority. For the legal liabilities, please read the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China carefully.

This form is available in visa offices. Applicants are suggested to download the blank form, double-side print and fill it in with black ink   before coming to visa offices  0-Residence Permit Application Form.pdf. If you have problems filling out the form, please check the sample form and read the tips  0-Residence Permit Application Form Sample.pdf  . Do not glue your 2-inch photo to the form until your photo has passed the test of the visa office.

* Special Notice for the 2-inch Photos

The 2-inch photos for the Residence Permit Application should be colored, white backgrounded, bare-headed and taken within 1 month. Please remember to remove all your facial decorations and wear dark colored clothes when taking photos. Photos with glossy surface are recommended, as the matte ones often fail in the test. Don't use the photos for your passport or visa applications, as they have been taken under different standards.

Exit-Entry Administration of Nanjing Police Bureau (173 Baixia Rd. / 白下路173号南京市公安局出入境管理处) is the major visa office to receive your residence permit applications. You may turn to the following visa office branches as well.

Hexi Branch is not recommeded, as their capacity is reviewing 40 applications approximately per work day.

REGISTRATION

New students are required to register at the College of International Education of NUFE within the period prescribed in the Admission Notice. Students who cannot complete the registration process in the appointed time or who are to arrive out of office hours are obligated to seek approval in advance. Anyone who fails to register in due time without getting approval in advance will be unable to register.

New students should bring the JW202 form, Admission Notice of NUFE, Application Form of International Students of NUFE, passport, 2-inch photos, and the original documents of the previous application package for registration.

International students shall pay total tuition fees, accommodation, and insurance by academic year in Chinese currency CNY.

Enrolled international students should register at the College of International Education on the date prescribed in the university schedule. Students who cannot register on time must seek approval in advance.

Students who want to quit halfway should submit a written application to the College of International Education to get official approval. Then they must go to the Immigration Department of Nanjing Police Department to cancel their current residence permits and apply for short-term stay visas with documents issued by NUFE. When the residence permit cancellation is finished, students should leave China before the stay visa expires. Students who complete studying at NUFE also have to cancel their residence permit before leaving the campus.
