NUFE History
1956 China’s Ministry of Grain approved the establishment of the school;
1957 The school was named “Nanjing Grain Cadres School affiliated to Ministry of Grain”;
1959 The school was renamed “Nanjing Grain School affiliated to Ministry of Grain”;
1970 Ministry of Grain devolved its management of the school to Jiangsu Province;
1973 The school was renamed “Jiangsu Grain School”, which was affiliated to Jiangsu Province;
1979 Under the dual leadership of Ministry of Grain and Jiangsu Province, the school was renamed “Nanjing Grain School”;
1981 The school was renamed “Nanjing Institute of Grain Economics”, and changed its leadership to Ministry of Commerce;
1993 Affiliated to Ministry of Internal Trade, the school was renamed “Nanjing Institute of Economics”;
1999 Nanjing Materials College was incorporated into Nanjing Institute of Economics;
2000 The university began to be set up with the annexation of Nanjing Institute of Economics, Jiangsu Economic Management Cadres College, and Jiangsu Finance and Economics College;
2003 Ratified by the Ministry of Education, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics was officially established.
