On the afternoon of November 4, a delegation of principals of vocational and technical colleges from South Africa visited Nanjing University of Finance and Economics (NUFE) to strengthen the higher education communication with China. NUFE President CHENG Yongbo met them at Xianlin Campus.

President Cheng first extended his warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced the general situation of the university, with an emphasis on discipline construction, talent training and university internationalization. He also pointed out that NUFE had been making efforts to convert research achievements to economic benefits and social services. He would like to share more ideas with the delegation on this issue.

President Cheng reviewed the friendship between China and South Africa. The two countries had established cooperation at both governmental and non-governmental levels. South Africa has the largest number of Confucius Institutes. President Cheng expressed the resolution to respond to the national call to promote the partnership with South African colleges. NUFE would also welcome South African students to study at the university.

Professor Gregory Wyne Adams, Acting CEO of MerSETA and head of the delegation, expressed his thanks to NUFE’s warm welcome. He marveled at the development of our university, and sincerely hoped to learn from NUFE’s mode to cultivate compound talents. The delegation would like to take this visit as an opportunity to enhance the cooperation with our university.

The two parties also had in-depth discussions on transformation of scientific research achievements, and selection of outstanding overseas students. The delegation visited the laboratory of School of Food, Science and Engineering after the meeting.
