On the morning of October 8th , Vice-President Xu Chengming meets Dr.Maryalice Mazzara, Dean of SUNY Confucius Institute for Business in the meeting room of the administrative building on Xianlin Campus.
Vice-President Xu expresses sincere welcome to Dr.Maryalice Mazzara, stating that we attach great importance to the development of SUNY Confucius Institute for Business (CIB), the only Confucius Institute for Business in the US, which rapidly developed in the past three years.
Dr.Maryalice Mazzara highly praises CIB teachers and staff from NUFE and she reports the working plan for next period of CIB.
The attendees include Ms. Qiu Weifen, the head of International cooperation and exchange office; Ms.Wen Jing, former teacher of SUNY Confucius Institute for Business.
Various kinds of activities have been held since the new dean took office.
In July of 2013, SUNY CIB held ”A Night of Chinese Movies”. Experts were invited to explain “Red Sorghum”, a movie written by Mo Yan and directed by Zhang Yimou.
In August of 2013, SUNY Confucius Institute for Business held the first lecture of “Series of Outstanding Speakers”. Lady Yue-Sai Kan made a speech about the opportunities and challenge of inventing in China. The lecture was hosted by Tim Ferguson, the editor of Asian Versions of Forbes magazine.
In September of 2013, SUNY CIB held Mid-Autumn Festival Party. Xu Haoliang, assistant secretary-general at the UN; Hou Yong, leader of Chinese Group at UN attended the party. Hou Yong read the congratulatory letter from Ban Ki-Moon, secretary general of the United Nations.
In October of 2013, SUNY CIB held the second lecture of “Series of Outstanding Speakers”. Prof.Gregory W. Salyton, former American ambassador in Bermuda and scholar of East Asia made a speech on the relationship between China and USA .
