In June 2026, most enrolled Chinese Foundation Program (1+4 Program) students are scheduled to participate in the incoming comprehensive assessment, during which qualified students will be selected for Bachelor's Degree Programs, Master's Degree Programs, or the 2nd-year language program, with respective scholarship options. Please read the following assessment introduction carefully, as it elaborates on the potential admission offers and scholarship options.
COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT
The comprehensive assessment evaluates students' overall performance across seven aspects: Comprehensive Chinese course results, HSK Level, attendance rate, daily conduct, dorm discipline, and interview results. NUFE will select qualified graduates for Bachelor's Degree Programs / Master's Degree Programs / the 2nd year language training, and confirm tuition and scholarship conditions. The conditional admission pathways and scholarship options are listed below:
(1) The total score of each assessment indicator is 100, with the HSK Level as an exception: the HSK-4 Test score of not less than 180 will be deemed 100; the HSK-5 Test score of not less than 180 is 150. Please ensure you can get your HSK Test Report before the interview. HSK-4 is the minimum language requirement for most Bachelor's Degree Programs, and HSK-5 for all the Master's Degree Programs. Please submit your test report to your class tutor as soon as you receive it.
Please note that the Bachelor's Degree Program—Business Administration instructed in English (BBA) is also an option for Chinese Foundation Program graduates. The program is taught in English, so the HSK level is not mandatory. However, we suggest that graduates who wish to participate in the scholarship competition take HSK tests, as HSK scores play an essential role in scholarship assessment.
(2) Class tutors and course teachers will report attendance rate and daily conduct directly.
(3) The interview determines your pathway to degree programs, 2nd-year language study, or dropping out. Any student who fails the interview must finish the studies at NUFE. The interview lasts approximately 5-10 minutes per student and covers self-introduction, general questions, and verification of Chinese competency. After the interview, we will release admission options and confirm with every participant. Interviews are not required for graduates who will not continue their studies at NUFE.
(4) By relevant regulations of the educational authority, if you would like to enter a Bachelor's Degree Program, please ensure that you can provide your high school diploma or higher degree before the interview (a Bachelor's Degree is the prerequisite for a Master's Degree Program). Otherwise, you are not allowed to start studying for a degree program.
(5) Most degree programs require passing the HSK Test. Thus, we encourage students with insufficient Chinese competency to apply for the second year of the language program with a tuition fee discount privilege (11000 CNY tuition fee plus dorm rent), lower than the usual standard (13000 CNY plus 4000 CNY).
For details on NUFE's scholarship system, please check the webpage: http://english.nufe.edu.cn/info/1105/1478.htm
(6) Please be aware that scholarship students must pay the full tuition fee for the upcoming academic year in September before becoming eligible to receive the corresponding scholarship payments. It's important to note that there will be a noticeable difference between the freshman scholarship amount (17000 CNY) and the tuition fee for first-year master's degree students (23000 CNY).

Late June 2026: announce the final results and confirm admissions & scholarship options
Early July 2026: process new JW202 Forms and other files for future degree program students and 2nd-year foundation program students, and finish dorm rent payment for the following year.

Students who will complete the program and leave NUFE should come to Office 1416, Admin. Bldg. at least three weeks before their departure to take official documents for visa procedures. Then, they should go to the Nanjing immigration department's visa office, cancel their current residence permit, and apply for a short-term stay visa (2-4 weeks) to address personal affairs.
TUITION FEE & DORM RENT STANDARDS
Tuition Fee of Master's Degree Programs: 23000 CNY / Academic Year
Tuition Fee of Bachelor's Degree Programs: 17000 CNY / Academic Year
Tuition Fee of Preparatory Program: 13000 CNY / Academic Year
Dorm rent: twin room 4000 CNY / Academic Year
The dorm rent doesn't cover the accommodation during winter & summer vacations.
NUFE's financial policy states that tuition fee payment and scholarship disbursement are separate processes. Students awarded NUFE scholarships must pay their tuition fees at the beginning of the academic year before becoming eligible to receive scholarship funds.
GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION
NUFE receives several government scholarship seats annually, including the Jiangsu Government Scholarship and the Nanjing Government Scholarship. Most of these seats offer one-time cash bonuses ranging from 5000 to 18000 CNY and are open to international students at NUFE.
According to NUFE's tradition and policy, government scholarship seats for first-year students in bachelor's degree programs will be allocated based on their total score rankings during preparatory study. We will sum their Comprehensive Chinese Course scores, interview scores, daily conduct, HSK scores, extra points, and dorm-related performances to obtain a total score. Applicants are to be ranked by total scores, and correspondingly, government scholarship seats will be awarded to those at the top of the ranking list.
According to government authorities, the cash bonus can only be distributed when the scholarship winner is enrolled at NUFE. Suppose a government scholarship winner chooses to quit NUFE before the scholarship is distributed; in that case, the scholarship seat will be canceled. Please consider these facts.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q1: Will I need to take the CSCA Test in 2026 when I apply for Bachelor's Degree Programs?
As far as we know, you will not be required to take the CSCA Test in 2026 when applying for degree programs. But this requirement may change in 2027.
Q2: What is the deadline for the whole selection process?
The complete assessment will be finished before July 2026. You should submit your HSK Test Report before the interview, which is to be held in mid-June (the exact date will be determined later). We will release the final results in one or two weeks. Lastly, please keep your high school diploma or bachelor's degree on hand for verification of admission to degree programs.
Q3: I passed HSK-4, but the interview result prevented me from getting into degree study. Why?
The interview determines the students' possible study options at NUFE. If necessary, some students may be directed into a second year of language study. If you fail the interview, we are sorry to say that you will have to leave us at the end of this semester. Please prepare yourself for this crucial challenge.
Q4: Can I get any scholarships later during my degree studies?
Yes. Please check the webpage: http://english.nufe.edu.cn/info/1105/1478.htm
Q5: I can't pass the HSK-4 Test, but I want to apply for a degree program. What should I do?
Business Administration (BBA) taught in English will be a great choice, as its admission doesn't require the HSK-4 Level.
Q6: Is HSK-4 enough for me to study for a Bachelor's Degree Program?
Our experience says: NO!!! The HSK-4 Level of Chinese competency can help most students in most daily situations, but more is needed for professional study. Generally, the better your Chinese is, the more likely you are to handle your degree study. We recommend the HSK-5 Level to every student who is serious about their future studies, as it is the minimum language requirement for graduation from a degree program.
Q7: I passed the HSK-4 Test, but my Chinese is not good. What should I do?
As the saying goes, "haste makes waste." If you are not 100% confident in your Chinese proficiency, second-year language study is an ideal choice. Meanwhile, you will enjoy the Tuition Fee Discount Privilege (Pay 11000CNY) for the second-year language study.
Q8: Are there any degree programs taught in English?
Yes. The Business Administration (BBA) program, taught in English, is a great option for graduates of the Chinese Foundation Program.
