President CHENG Yongbo met with Professor LU Maozu

On the afternoon of July 6, Professor LU Maozu, a famous economist and Director of Strathclyde China Institute, visited Nanjing University of Finance & Economics (NUFE). President CHENG Yongbo and Vice President QIU Weifen met him at Xianlin Campus where they had an in-depth exchange of views mainly on international cooperation.
President Cheng first extended his warm welcome to Prof. Lu. He then reviewed the exchanges between the two universities and highly praised Prof. Lu for his help and support in deepening the cooperation between British universities and NUFE. President Cheng emphasized the internationalization strategy of NUFE. In recent years, NUFE has established sustained and stable partnership with many overseas high-level universities, and achieved some success in student exchange programs and overseas training programs for teachers. President Cheng hoped to take Prof. Lu’s visit as an opportunity to deepen the win-win cooperation with University of Strathclyde in scientific research, personnel training and other areas.
Prof. Lu expressed his gratitude to President Cheng for his reception, and spoke highly of the cooperation and deep friendship between the two universities over the years. He introduced the experience of international cooperation between Chinese and British universities as well as the current research status of disciplines related to finance and economics in the UK. Prof. Lu agreed to the cooperation proposal proposed by President Cheng. He hoped that the cooperation between the two universities could continue to be enriched and intensified, and the cooperation model could be further optimized.
Vice President Qiu Weifen exchanged views with Prof. Lu on the issues including scientific research cooperation, international training of young teachers, Chinese-foreign cooperation in running institutions and joint training of doctoral students.
Prof. HUANG Neng, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, was present at the reception.
